Alumni Spotlight: Margaret “Maggie” Ryan 2010

Each month we will feature a member of our alumni (the League of Knights) to highlight their accomplishments after graduating from IC Catholic Prep. This month, we spoke to Margaret “Maggie” Ryan, 2010. Maggie comes from an ICCP legacy family with parents Tom ’81 and Mary Beth (Haggerty ‘81) Ryan and the second of five children; Brendan-2008, Kathleen-2013, Clare-2016 and Thomas-2020. She received her bachelors in finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2014 and has since been employed at The PrivateBank/CIBC. Outside of her career at CIBC, Maggie also currently serves as the President on the Junior Board of Children’s Place Association, a Chicago-based non-profit organization that provides critical assistance to children and their families in four key areas of impact: health, education, family stability and financial stability.

ICCP: What was your favorite subject in school?

Maggie: I was always drawn to math classes and numbers, and algebra was always the class that challenged me in the best way.

ICCP: What is your best memory from your time at IC?

Maggie: It is very hard to choose, but I would have to say all of the teams that I was lucky enough to be a part of. I would have never had the opportunity to play as many sports at any other high school, and my teammates and coaches made my high school career the most memorable.

ICCP: What are some highlights from your career?

Maggie: In July, I will celebrate my 5 year anniversary at The PrivateBank/CIBC, having successfully graduated the Credit Training Program in September 2014. Currently am an Associate Managing Director in the Sponsor Finance Group at CIBC Bank USA, which manages a portfolio of approximately $2 billion in loan commitments to Private Equity Funds across the country.

ICCP: What is one other thing you would like to share with IC alumni?

Maggie:

Never forget where you came from. IC is a very special place that, not only instills the values of Catholicism in its community, but also plays such an important role in the development of its students both personally and educationally.

The feeling that I have as an alumna attending a sporting or any other IC-related event is truly special. Everyone is so welcoming, it feels like you never left. I credit the faculty, staff, and my prior classmates at IC for making me the person I am today and I wouldn’t change my high school experience for the world.
