Restaurant Review: Stray Hen in Elmhurst

Stray Hen Cafe is a popular spot for breakfast among the residents of Elmhurst. It is on the corner of York St. and Park Ave. There is a lot for parking directing behind the building, and is open every day from 7A.M. until 3 P.M.

Usually, upon entry, customers will be greeted by a group of families waiting for their table, due to the popularity of the establishment. When entering, a customer is greeted with nice greenery hanging on the wall, light music in the background, and the smell of delicious food being cooked. The ambiance of the restaurant is very calming and welcoming.

The interior design has a modern look, with solid color walls wood floors and tables, but with some hint of green with all the plants around the room. The dining area is small, but appears bigger with the huge windows all around the exterior, and the outdoor seating area. I only examined two dishes that we ordered, but their menu is filled with a wide range of food for breakfast and lunch.

I ordered the Black and white, which is a stack of three pancakes topped with chocolate chips, chocolate and caramel syrup, and a side of whip cream that can make any kid who loves chocolate scream with joy. This is one of my favorite things to order because there is a lot of flavor in just one dish.

My grandma ordered their famous flight waffles, which are small waffles that a person can top with an assortment of things like strawberries, blueberries, bananas, cookie batter, and much more. She liked all the different flavors and like the idea of getting different flavors to get so many different flavors.

Overall, the aesthetics of the building are very pleasing and I cannot wait to go back for another bite. I think that people should give Stray Hen Cafe a try, and put their assortment of delicious food to the test.
