On Saturday, November 9, 2019, I had the pleasure of taking a group of wonderful students to the FIRST Tech Challenge Robotics Meet at Highland Park High School (See picture below).
Our team is known as “The Engineering Knights, Team #17657.” We competed in the the Skystone Challenge which engages students in building and programming a robot to compete in a 12’ x 12’ arena where they must lift and stack ‘Skystones’ to construct the highest free standing structure.
Teams form alliances with other communities and work together in 2 vs 2 matches. Gracious professionalism is the theme of FIRST Robotics, it’s a transformative way of teaching youth healthy competition.
We look forward to many more FIRST Robotics competitions and honing our engineering skills here at IC Catholic Prep.
