National Honor Society, or NHS, is a national organization for high school students that seeks to honor students who demonstrate excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and character. Students are eligible for induction into National Honor Society in 10th through 12th grade, which is done through a formal induction ceremony.
IC Catholic Prep held its Honor Societies Induction Ceremony on Thursday, November 7th at the Immaculate Conception Church in Elmhurst, Illinois.
Additionally, IC Catholic Prep inducted members to the Spanish, Italian, and Latin National Honor Societies. Students spoke to the importance of studying world languages and acquiring a global perspective of the world through their studies.
“Being a member of the National Honor Society shows that you are among the best students in your class, not just in terms of academics but also in terms of leadership, service, and character,” said Steve Davidson, Assistant Principal and Director of Curriculum. “It shows a commitment to community service projects and provides you the opportunity to network with like-minded peers. College admissions committees like to see anything that sets you apart as a top student, and this is one of them.”
Davidson continued to describe the benefit of NHS membership by saying that additionally, NHS provides regular opportunities for students to build their leadership skills.
