IC Catholic Prep Hosts First-Ever Winter Market

The holiday season is here — and with it, an abundance of events and activities are available in the Elmhurst area. Whether you want to shop for gifts at a holiday market, take the kids to see Santa or hum along to cheery holiday music, there’s no shortage of ways to have festive fun in the coming weeks.

On December 1st, the first Sunday in Advent, IC Catholic Prep hosted its first-ever Winter Holiday Market at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa in Itasca. This special holiday event featured Shelly (Karch ’85) LeGere, founder of the Annie LeGere Foundation, as the inspirational speaker, 10 vendors and 76 attendees.

Attendees enjoyed a brunch, a keynote speech by Mrs. LeGere, and browsed unique and handmade gifts by local vendors.

“We are so grateful to Shelly LeGere—an alumna from the Class of 1985—for her inspiring words about faith, family and community in the face of incredible life challenges,” said Barbara Goworowski, president, IC Catholic Prep. “As a mother, I am in awe of Shelly and her personal strength and resolve to advocate for and on behalf of all Illinois families. Because of her work, police officers in Illinois can carry and administer lifesaving epinephrine auto-injectors.”

Director of Special Events and Alumni Relations, Tracie Ortman said enthusiastically “We look forward to the second installment of this event in 2020, when we hope to bring even more Christmas season cheer to our friends and family of IC Catholic Prep.”

Thank you to Eileen (Rapp ’89) Miller who helped us organize this event at the Eaglewood Resort & Spa.

Thank you to all the vendors (four of whom are current IC Catholic Prep families).

The Annie LeGere Foundation is grateful to everyone who donated to their cause on the day of the Winter Market.

“We are thankful to all the attendees and vendors for making the Winter Market very successful event for IC Catholic Prep,” noted Goworowski. “I received so much good feedback from attendees and vendors alike. They expressed how much fun it was and look forward to the next event in 2020.”
