After Mass and the Blessing of the Throats in the Immaculate Conception Church, Tom Schergen, principal, honored the January Students and Teacher of the Month.
Mr. Mike Dronzek, chair of the English Department, was selected as the Teacher of the Month. He has been a member of the IC Catholic Prep faculty since 2013.
Mr. Dronzek has spent countless hours working with students on papers, organization, time management and study skills. He is an integral part of the school community and has served in many roles such as a baseball coach, volunteer at home Football Games, the school’s newspaper moderator, English teacher, and afterschool study hall moderator.
Mr. Dronzek has taught English 1, English 3, AP English Language, Journalism and Strategies and currently leads the English Department as the Chairperson.
Students of the month are recognized for their positive influence on the IC Catholic Prep student body through exemplary qualities of character, citizenship, service, & leadership along with their involvement in extracurricular activities.
Our female student of the month is a young woman who has been actively involved in tutoring students of all grade levels. She has tutored grade school students along with founding the non-profit peer tutoring organization, Teach Times Two, where she has done everything from managing the website to recruiting and managing directors and volunteers. At ICCP, she is actively involved in Business Professionals of America, is a featured writer in the Knights Times newspaper along with being an active member of the Math Team and National Honor Society. Her nominator stated, “She is a quiet, humble leader who has made a tremendous impact on the ICCP community in her 4 years.” Congratulations Katarina Vorne.
Our male student of the month is a young man who works hard in everything he does at ICCP. He is an outstanding student which is demonstrated through his consistent High Honor Roll Status. He is an active member of the Football and Basketball programs along with contributing to the Math Team and Student Council. He has established himself as a leader and always puts others first. His nominator stated, “Not only is he very talented, but he shares his talents. Many times, he helps other students succeed along with being extremely humble.” Congratulations Daniel Roberto.
