Sunshine Tour is a Wrap: Alumni Visit in Florida 2020

It shouldn’t be a surprise to those here in the Chicagoland area that so many of our fellow League of Knights members spend their winters in sunnier and warmer temperatures of Florida. For the third straight year, IC Catholic Prep leadership visited with alumni in Naples and Lakeland, Florida.

On March 4, Charlie ’56 and Erika Priester hosted an IC Alumni gathering in Naples, Florida where the Very Rev. Thomas Paul, Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish joined ICCP President Barbara Goworowski and Director of Special Events and Alumni Relations Tracie Ortman to talk about the great things going on at IC Catholic Prep.

“It is always nice to stay in touch with our alumni,” said Goworowski. “Even as the years go on, our friends in Florida are fiercely committed to our school. I am inspired by their enduring love for the school and our community. We look forward to next year when we can come together again in the spirit of IC Catholic Prep.”

Highlights from the evening included spontaneous piano playing and entertainment, alumni from 1956, 1957, 1960 and 70 were in attendance, and Fr. Tom and Goworowski shared inspiring words.

On Thursday, March 5, Classes of 1950 and 1969 got together for some Spring Training baseball between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees in Lakeland, Florida.

“It was another inspiring day with our alumni,” noted Goworowski. “Even with a nearly 20-year gap between attendees, our guests enjoyed a fun afternoon of baseball, camaraderie and all things IC Catholic Prep. It is heart-warming to see our alumni come together and enjoy time reminiscing their years at IC. We continue to ramp up our efforts to unify our alumni as part of the League of Knights with monthly emails and hosting various events in and around Elmhurst and the country.”
