Each month we will feature a member of our alumni (the League of Knights) to highlight their accomplishments after graduating from IC Catholic Prep. This month, we spoke to alumni that are on the front lines taking on COVID-19.
This spotlight features, Gretchen Vitek class of 2015. Gretchen majored in nursing at the University of Iowa and is now working on her Masters of Science in Nursing and Masters of Business Administration from Benedictine University.
ICCP: What was your favorite subject in school?
Gretchen: Math-Mrs Idasek is a genius.
ICCP: What is your best memory from your time at IC?
Gretchen: Too many to count, but one of my favorites was going on a mission trip for Habitat for Humanity with Mr. Moore and Mrs. Rybarczyk.
ICCP: What are some highlights from your career?
Gretchen: I am a pulmonary nurse, but I have recently transitioned to working in a medical intensive care unit for COVID-19 patients.
ICCP: What is one other thing you would like to share with IC alumni?
Gretchen: IC provided me with a lot of unique opportunities that allowed me to become the well-rounded individual that I am today. The faculty at IC always pushed me to work hard, which set an excellent foundation of learning and values that have guided me through college and my career thus far. I love keeping in touch with my IC friends and seeing how successful each person has been since we had graduated just a short five years ago.
