Thomas Sloan ’20 Believes in Hard Work

IC Catholic Prep Student Spotlight

Thomas is one of eleven recipients of the Monsignor Plunkett Distinguished Scholar Award – Class of 2020. This honor is the highest academic award given to ICCP senior students to honor their outstanding achievements and their commitment to academic excellence.

Thomas will attend Michigan State University in the fall and will pursue a major in business accounting or finance. His goal is to work for a big accounting firm and gain professional experience, then start his own company, and find meaningful ways to give back to his community through philanthropy.

During his four years at IC Catholic Prep, Thomas participated in extracurricular activities, including leadership roles as the captain of the soccer team and the treasurer for the National Honor Society. He was active on the football team, the math team, and the Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering Team. Thomas has played 12 years of club soccer.

He came to IC Catholic Prep from Immaculate Conception Grade School.

Recognized for his academic and athletic accomplishments at the conference, regional, and state levels, Thomas is also a 2020 Illinois State Scholar. He talks about his experience as part of the IC Catholic Prep Football team during his junior year when the Knights won their third state championship as one of his fondest memories. “It was simply one of the more joyous moments of my life and to live it with so many of my schoolmates made it even more incredible. It was truly an unforgettable season of football.”
