ICCP Volleyball honored for academic excellence by The United States Marine Corps
and the American Volleyball Coaches Association
Elmhurst, Ill. – July 29, 2020 – IC Catholic Prep (ICCP) is delighted to announce that the ICCP Volleyball team has earned the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2019-2020 season. The award, initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale or 4.10 on a 5.0 scale.
“Academic excellence has always been considered a key measurement of success for our program each year,” noted Nancy Kerrigan, girls volleyball head coach. “This award is a testament to these incredible young women who consistently commit to getting it done in the classroom and on the court. I am grateful to both the team for all their hard work the dedicated and talented faculty, staff and Administration at ICCP for their leadership and support of all of our student-athletes.”
This marks the 27th time in the 28-year history of the award program that ICCP Volleyball has earned the prestigious honor.

“At a time in history when most of our day-to-day activities have come to a halt, including sports, it is refreshing to highlight our student-athletes for their academic accomplishments,” said Michael Fahey, athletic director. “The young women of our volleyball team not only excel on the court, they lead in the classroom and I’m honored that two of our teams, Boys Baseball and Girls Volleyball, have been recognized by national organizations for their commitment to academic excellence. This is further evidence that our school delivers on its promise to develop the next generation of responsible citizens who learn, lead, and serve.”
