IC Catholic Prep Students Earn AP Scholar Recognition on Advanced Placement Exams
Thirty-Two AP Scholar Awards for Academic Excellence and
Twenty-Eight Students Scored a ‘Five’ on Advanced Placement Exams
ELMHURST, Ill. – September 10, 2020 – IC Catholic Prep (ICCP) announced today that AP students qualified for 32 Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar Awards in recognition of their exceptional achievement on AP Exams during the 2019-2020 school year. In total, 82% of the ICCP AP exams resulted in a score of 3 or higher based on a scale from 1 to 5, with 5 being the highest possible score. Twenty-eight (28) students scored a 5 on at least one AP exam, with four (4) students scoring a 5 on multiple AP exams.
“In the midst of a pandemic and the implementation of e-Learning during the fourth quarter last year, our teachers and students demonstrated tremendous work ethic, creativity, and resilience,” said Stephen Davidson, principal. “At the beginning of the year, we set high goals for our AP courses, and our teachers and students really blew those goals out of the water. We are extremely proud of our young men and women.”
Through their hard work and countless hours of preparation, IC Catholic Prep students earned college credits at some of the top universities and colleges in the nation such as the University of Notre Dame, University of Illinois, University of Wisconsin, Michigan State University, and Purdue University.
Comparing year-over-year performance, IC Catholic Prep set all-time highs in:
- Number of students taking exams: 100 students (2020) vs. 87 students (2019)
- Number of exams taken: 196 exams (2020) vs. 175 exams (2019)
- AP students with 3+: 82 students (2020) vs. 64 students (2019)
- AP Students with a score of 5: 28 exams (2020) vs. 17 exams (2019)
- AP Scholars: 32 AP scholars (2020) vs. 30 AP Scholars (2019)
Eleven students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award, granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams:

Ten students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams:

ICCP offers enrollment in nine AP courses in the areas of English Literature and Composition, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, US History, World History, US Government and Politics, English Language and Composition, and Spanish Language and Culture.

Advanced Placement is accepted by more than 3,800 colleges and universities worldwide for college credit, advanced placement, or both, based on successful AP Exam grades.
