Each month we will feature a member of our alumni (the League of Knights) to highlight their accomplishments after graduating from IC Catholic Prep. This month, we spoke to alumnus, Anthony C. Winfield Jr., Class of 2011. Anthony attended the University of Alabama and studied Business Finance.
ICCP: What was your favorite subject in school?
Anthony: My favorite subject in high school was Algebra II because Mrs. Idasek facilitated a positive learning environment that made me stay engaged and learn more from her. More importantly, she offered students with last-period study hall the opportunity to come in for extra help, which allowed me to build a strong relationship with her at that time.
ICCP: What is your best memory from your time at IC?
Anthony: During my time at IC, my best memory would have to be my discussion about the tv show ‘Lost’ with Mrs. Gutierrez before or after school. Even though at first, I become a fan to win brownie points because my Spanish wasn’t the best but over time, my love for the show and Spanish enhanced dramatically.
ICCP: What are some highlights from your career?
Anthony: In the early part of my career, I worked as a senior consultant for IBM in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before returning home to Chicago, IL. As a senior consultant, I was at the intersection of technology, people, and process, helping my clients digitally transform their businesses to adapt to market changes and better align their business structures with their corporate vision. I’ve had the opportunity to build a robust portfolio of exciting and rewarding experiences from travelling across the nation, taking advantage of opportunities to master new skills, becoming an expert in my client’s industries, and tackling new challenges.
My curious mind helped me transition into my professional experience within the consulting industry. It allowed me to research and understand the “why” for so many different client’s businesses as a consultant. Working with my clients has continued to feed my passion and excitement for learning about the consumer’s perspective and what motivates them daily while delivering a service to them. My love for people led me to pursue my MBA with a concentration in marketing and strategy. Here at Katz Graduate School of Business, I will be serving as President of the Student Executive Board (S.E.B.) and Vice President for the Adam Smith Society and Marketing Club; where I can seek to make sure the entire Katz student body has an authentic, immersed experience within the Katz community that they can be proud of.
This upcoming summer, I’ll be interning with Epic Games – Unreal Engine as a Digital Marketing MBA Intern. I’ll have an epic opportunity to expand my digital marketing and channel optimization skills at one of the leading companies in the interactive entertainment and 3D technology industry and work alongside such inspiring and creative individuals.
ICCP: What is one other thing you would like to share with IC alumni?
Anthony: Throughout my four years at IC, the faculty, staff, and fellow students instilled the importance of community. I have always thrived to promote a welcoming and engaging community in every aspect of my life.
