On Wednesday, April 13th, 2022, students, faculty members, and staff will be participating in our inaugural Day of Service. As a Catholic school who seeks to instill the values of learning, leading and serving others, we are thrilled to finally get this event off the ground after three years of planning and cancelations. This year our community will participate in service and almsgiving during Holy Week at two sites for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Aurora and Schaumburg. We look forward with excitement to 100% participation from our students, faculty, and staff!
FMSC is a Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to seeing every child whole in body and spirit. FMSC works with food distribution partners that stay with communities for the long haul, empowering them to move from relief to development. FMSC’s process is simple. Each participant donates to the cost of the packages. The participant then volunteers to hand-pack the meals, and the meals are donated to FMSC food partners around the world, where kids are fed and lives are saved.
Parents and students were sent an email with important registration links and permission slip for travel on the ICCP website which includes the $25 fee. Students must complete the payment and registration by Friday, April 8th.
Additional donations are appreciated to defray the cost of transportation and lunch for our students. Please contact sdavidson@iccatholicprep.org for donations.
Because our service day will involve over 400 students, faculty and staff members, classes will split up for different packing sessions and follow a unique schedule for the day. Upon return to IC Catholic Prep after volunteering at FMSC sites, students will be provided with a simple lunch, time to reflect in small groups, and conclude with a Holy Week Prayer Service prior to dismissal.
We look forward to making this event impactful for our students and fulfilling our mission to LEARN, LEAD, and SERVE!
