The IC Catholic Prep community welcomes our new math teacher for Geometry, both regular and enhanced classes, as well as the Alge-bra II regular class, Mr. Adriano Cosentino. Mr. Cosentino has been teaching for eight years, coming from St. Scho-latica in Woodridge. He says the changes he has experienced are: adapting from grade school to a high school environment, different policies and procedures, the different personalities of students and staff, and being affiliated with the school. He has adjusted to these changes by seeking help from the administration and getting to know the students more. I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Mr. Cosentino about his experience so far at ICCP. He said, “Now that I am here at ICCP, everyone is great and I feel welcomed.” He also stated that ICCP is more of a positive and family atmosphere as everyone is willing to assist each other.

Mr. Cosentino is also the new boys freshman basketball coach. Outside of ICCP, Mr. Cosentino enjoys spending time with his wife, watching and playing sports, watching movies, and cooking. Aside from this, Mr. Cosentino says he didn’t know he wanted to become a teacher until he was in college. He said, “I took an education course my freshman year of college to see what it was all about. I fell in love with the idea of teaching and empowering the youth of today’s society.” Mr. Cosentino has previously taught 3 years at Jefferson Elementary in Berwyn and at St. Scholastica for 4 years. He says the change to IC Catholic Prep was easier because many places do not have a family friendly environment, like we do here, and the challenging curriculum to help prepare the students beyond high school. I had the opportunity to ask Mr. Cosenti-no, “What do you plan on bringing over to ICCP, as far as teaching wise?” He answered, “I plan on bringing enthusiasm and passion to my teaching every day. Also organize interactive activities so students sustain energy through all classes.” Mr. Cosentino
