Principal Dispatch—Change to Start of School Year Due to Recent Storms & Power Outages

School Year Begins Wednesday, August 19

Dear ICCP families,

Due to severe storms that knocked out power to our school main campus on Monday evening, we are postponing the start of the school year to Wednesday, August 19, instead of Monday, August 17. This change is necessary as ComEd has informed us that power will not be restored until Saturday, August 15 impacting this week’s teacher meetings and preparation time.

As you can imagine, this is not how we envisioned the start of an already extraordinary school year. However, we appreciate your willingness and ability to be flexible as we all make the necessary adjustments to begin the 2020-21 school year.

Week 1 (August 19-August 25)
Wednesday, August 19
The start of the school year will be delayed by two days. Freshmen and transfer students will attend orientation from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, August 19. Seniors, Juniors, and Sophomores will report to school at assigned times according to their last name to drop off forms, pick up schedules, and organize lockers.

Seniors

A-L | 12:00-12:30 pm
M-Z | 12:30-1:00 pm

Juniors

A-L | 1:00-1:30 pm
M-Z | 1:30-2:00 pm

Sophomores

A-L | 2:00-2:30 pm
M-Z | 2:30-3:00 pm

August 20-21 & 24-25
Thursday, August 20; Friday, August 21; Monday, August 24; and, Tuesday, August 25, we will follow a half day hybrid schedule from 7:45 am-12:18 pm to ensure that all students can adapt to new safety procedures and norms. There will be no lunches. Students with last names A-L will attend in-person learning on 8/20 and 8/24, while students M-Z will attend in-person learning on 8/21 and 8/25. During this first week of school, students at home will NOT be required to log-in remotely for synchronous learning.

Thriving Together
I have faith that we will thrive this school year as a community. We are resilient and together we will remain steadfast in our mission to provide a quality Catholic education to our students.

May Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception continue to guide and protect you.

Sincerely,

Stephen Davidson
Principal
