Alumni Spotlight: Pete Catizone, 1987

Each month we will feature a member of our alumni (the League of Knights) to highlight their accomplishments after graduating from IC Catholic Prep. This month, we spoke to alumnus, Pete Catizone, class of 1987. Pete attended Triton College in Northeastern Illinois for communications. Pete lives in Naperville with his wife Ginger and his two children, Alyssa and Peter.

ICCP: What was your favorite subject in school?

Pete: Journalism and Theology. I had wonderful teachers in Mr. DeBartolo and Mr. Vincente. Plus,  I loved writing for and editing the Knight Times!

ICCP: What is your best memory from your time at IC?

Pete: So many; but a few are the pep rallies on Fridays, our Junior and Senior retreats, and getting called up to the Varsity Baseball team as a Freshman for the State Tournament and going 3 for 3 in those games!

ICCP: What are some highlights from your career?

Pete: I have been fortunate to be with the Chicago White Sox Organization for what will now be my 18th season coming up in 2021. I have also been fortunate enough to be a head coach and an assistant coach at both the high school and college level for parts of 9 years. I have just started my 21st year of private baseball hitting instruction for high school and college players.

ICCP: What is one other thing you would like to share with IC alumni?

Pete: IC did wonders for me not only from an educational standpoint but even more so on a personal level. Some of my greatest times and learning experiences came from our community. IC taught me how to respect others, how to accept people for who they are and as we always used to say back in the 80’s how to care. IC means I Care.

I loved every minute of my time there and look back fondly at those 4 years. I wish nothing but continued success to all of the current Knights and that they may have even better and more exciting experiences in their future!
