Revised Guidelines from the Diocese of Joliet-Mask Policy

Dear IC Catholic Prep Families,

Thank you for your patience and understanding this past weekend and today regarding the Diocesan guidance on the state-mandated COVID mitigations of mask-wearing. We understand the frustration on both sides of this topic and wanted to offer some updates.

Please be assured that we have maintained constant contact with the Diocese of Joliet as we have sought further guidance, understanding, and a plan of how to best move forward given the recent court ruling and anticipated appeals.

Late this afternoon, we received revised protocols from the Diocese of Joliet. In accordance with the revised guidance, IC Catholic Prep will be moving from “mask required” to “mask recommended” effective tomorrow, February 8th. Please see the letter below from the Diocese and the required form, which is due on Friday, February 11th for all students.

Please note COVID-19 protocols regarding exposure, isolation when sick, and quarantining will remain in place. It is important to note that all students, faculty, and staff members are required to stay home if they are not feeling well. Masks are still required at this time for all students on school buses and for students participating in extracurricular activities and athletics on/off campus. There have been no changes to IHSA guidelines at this time. We will continue to offer and provide masks in the main office for students and visitors.

As we have done throughout the pandemic, we will continue to advocate for our school community, communicate with our parents, and prepare our students to learn, lead, and serve.

Thank you for your continued support and prayers during this challenging time.

Sincerely,
Stephen Davidson
