On Wednesday, September 28th, IC Catholic Prep students, faculty, administration, and members of the Board of Directors gathered for the dedication of the newly renovated 3rd Floor Classrooms and Counseling Center. Immaculate Conception Pastor, Very Rev. Thomas Paul led the special blessing.
The Counseling Center was dedicated to recently retired Director of Counseling, Mrs. Jean Field, after 50 years of service to the IC Catholic Prep community. Mrs. Field was a teacher, coach, and counselor since 1972. “Throughout her career, Mrs. Field impacted the lives of countless students and community members. The dedication of the Jean Field Counseling Center is a reminder of the love and guidance that Mrs. Field exemplified,” said Principal Stephen Davidson.
Construction took place during the summer of 2022 and included five classrooms and the counseling offices. The upgrades to the classrooms included the installation of new flooring, classroom doors, window coverings, multipurpose classroom furniture, whiteboards, wireless access points, and 75’ HD TVs. The project was a continuation of the ongoing renovations to the high school building which began in 2017.
The counseling offices were completely redesigned to provide collaborative meeting space for students in a welcoming environment. The offices were remodeled with new furniture and TVs for collaborative work. “We are incredibly excited,” said Ms. Sindy Ortiz, Director of Counseling. “Our students love the changes and the feeling of home when they enter. The newly added technology and workspace allow us to provide enhanced services to our students.”
We look forward to the exciting opportunities these spaces will offer ICCP students in the future!
